Climate and environment

When you return cans and bottles to stores on which deposits have been paid, you're doing the climate and the environment a favour. Used packaging can easily be turned into new material, and this requires less energy and fewer resources than making cans and bottles from new raw materials.

Dansk Retursystem A/S ensures that the packaging is recycled. We do this by collecting, sorting and preparing cans and bottles. Next, we forward them to specialist companies who convert the used packaging into new high-quality materials.

As much as possible

The more cans and bottles we recycle, the better it is for the climate and the environment. We are therefore constantly working to increase the returns percentage, which indicates how much of the packaging sold on which deposits have been paid is returned again.

Saving on transport

We continually try to improve the benefits of the deposit and return system for the environment and climate based on different initiatives. One of these is that cans and bottles are pressed flat in most of the larger stores. Taking up less space means fewer journeys on the road network.
